Gung Ho x Plant Hub Event

Sometimes I have those pinch me moments where I get to attend incredible events such as the Gung Ho x Plant Hub event in London last week. It was amazing to witness this fantastic collaboration between Gung Ho, a fashion line created by Sophie Dunster and a new vegan restaurant/kitchen academy called Plant Hub, situated in Hackney. The idea behind Sophie’s latest collection for Gung Ho was ‘where do vegans get their protein from’, a frequently asked question for vegans and vegetarians like myself! Each item of clothing depicted the various foods that provide vegans with their protein. This worked perfectly with the launch of the event space Plant Hub, as they are an all Vegan restaurant with an adjoining kitchen that provides culinary classes.

The items of clothing created by Sophie were worn by some of the brilliant chefs that have inspired the collection. Before the show started, the kitchen that could be viewed through glass panels was lit and the chefs could be seen in the kitchen cooking, all dressed in the new collection. One by one the chefs started to walk out in to the audience. The catwalk not only showed off the garments but as the chefs walked down the catwalk they carried platters of food they had created using their vegan products, therefore creating a sensory experience for the audience where you could visually see the clothes being worn, taste the food on offer and smell the aromas coming from the kitchen! It was a truly wonderful experience.

After the show, we were treated to music by Francesco Mazzetti. We also had music from two of my best friends, Sam and Lucy who you may already know are in an amazing band called Orchards. They did a beautiful acoustic set for the event, singing their own songs from the band. Their new single ‘Young‘ is out now so go give it a listen!
