How I take inspiration from high end fashion

Obviously not all of us have the budget to dress head-to-toe in high end designer items. But that doesn’t mean we can’t make it look that way. I love taking inspiration from the high end catwalks and recreating the looks using high street pieces! It’s not as hard as you may think and of course, it is a lot more affordable. If you are like me and religiously watch the fashion shows as they come out while taking notes of the doable trends you are seeing then you’ve already completed level one. Of course, you can also flick through a fashion magazine where the trends are pre-determined and it is a lot easier to see how they can work in to your daily wardrobe. I love using both these methods to select what trends I do and don’t want to follow.

This past month has been the turn of the Cruise shows and boy have we been in for a treat! I’ve honestly been blown away by each one and taken so much inspiration from them! I’m already seeing similar items trickling down in to the high street stores too so it won’t be long before you too can recreate the looks. And on that note I wanted to show you my version of outfits I saw in the Louis Vuitton Cruise ’19 collection, with some lingering inspo from their Spring/Summer ’18 show.

Left: This was my favourite outfit from the whole Cruise19 show. I love the colours and the fluidity of the fabrics

Right: I was obsessed with this blazer/coat combination paired with loose shorts and sporty trainers through out the SS18 show.

So here is my version of a Louis Vuitton inspired outfit. The basis of the outfit was taken from the SS18 show with the blazer/shorts combo that was shown through out the show. I love how they were paired with sporty trainers to create a juxtaposition between feminine and sporty. And of course Louis Vuitton aren’t the only ones flying the flag for this trend. Prada, Tibi, Saint Laurent and Valentino all show shorts paired with blazers or jackets in their SS shows. Again they were styled with either trainers or heels, which proves this outfit can be transformed from day to night. We’ve also seen them in a variety for fabrics ranging from linen (another huge trend this season) to leather.
