Inspiration From the Catwalks

As you guys know, I love taking inspiration from high end fashion and styling it in to my everyday outfits. This time around I’ve taken note from Balenciaga and Versace. This season we saw lots of layering and oversizing at Balenciaga. With Versace, my main inspiration was plaid and tartan, especially on their kilt style skirts. So here is my take on those trends. I’ve managed to find items on the high street that replicate what I saw on the catwalks and I’ve come up with an outfit that encompasses them all.

Starting with the skirt. This piece is great as it’s versatile and colourful. I love the autumnal colours in the tartan print and how it almost reminds me of those ugly school skirts. On top, I’ve layered with a sweater. Again, this adds a pop of colour that contrasts brightly against the duller tones of the skirt. We saw this layering a lot at Balenciaga and they also used sweaters to add warmth. On top of that is my puffer jacket – again for warmth and layering. The black adds a neutral block of colour to the palette. I’ve paired that with the black boots too so as not to over power the outfit with colour. Again, the boots keep me warm and elevate the look.
