Welcome back to another ‘now playing’ post. I really love curating my favourite things to listen to for these posts, which is normally music related however this time I’ve added in a few podcasts I’ve been listening to lately. I’m finally on the podcast bandwagon and I won’t be getting off anytime soon!
The last few weeks have been an amalgamation of new and old. The recent release of Billie Eilish’s album had a hold on me for about 2 straight weeks. It was all I wanted to listen to, the slightly creepy melodies and the annoyingly relatable lyrics, the whole album is a journey. On the other hand, Beyonce’s new Netflix documentary ‘Homecoming’ caused me to dive back in to her discography and relive her amazing music career. A few favourites are listed below. Another throw back to when bands were my everything, Victory Lane (a band I featured on my old ‘bands you must listen to now’ youtube videos) have released a new song which is available now!
I’ve been meaning to listen to podcasts for a while but always found it hard to find a good time to listen to them. Turns out, while driving and doing the ironing seems to work wonderfully. It’s so refreshing to listen to people talk about important subjects instead of just having the radio on or listening to music. I’ve learnt so much on topics I thought I was pretty clued up on. I’m a bit of a sponge and love educating myself on things so podcasts have been a great resource for me to do that. I’ve listed a few of my favourites below.
Piece of your heart – Medusa
Girls need love – Summer Walker ft Drake
Partition – Beyonce
Don’t hurt yourself – Beyonce ft Jack White
Bad guy – Billie Eilish
ilomilo – Billie Eilish
Happy sad – Victory Lane
Young/Mature Me EP – Orchards
Things you can’t ask yer mum – Lizzy Hadfield and Lindsey Holland
Girls Talk – Adwoa Aboah
Thinking Big – Maisie Williams
We need to talk about…
The Infinite Monkey Cage – Brian Cox
A Quick Note:
Starting this week, rayofstyle will be having an overhaul. I’m over writing about clothing when you can clearly see the clothing in the photos. I will still be doing certain fashion related content such as my Fashion Focus series and of course the imagery featured in future blog posts will have me in styled outfits, but the posts themselves will have more substance. I really just want to start writing about more important things like health, environment and more thought provoking posts. Fashion will still have a place here and I’m still open to working with fashion brands of course to bring you all the latest fashion news, but I just want to write for thoughtful posts on a literacy level. This goes for my youtube as well; less hauls, more styling videos of clothing I already own etc. I will also be starting a new conversational series on my youtube. Stay tuned!
