Welcome to 2019! I’ve had such a lovely day today, just aimlessly walking around town with my camera taking photos. I ended up using a whole roll in one day, with the exception of the first 3 photos that were taken two days ago. I’ve tried to make an effort to do this since I went to Budapest. I loved that while I was in Budapest I didn’t let myself worry about how many photos I had left to take on my current film roll. I just walked around taking photos of everything that peaked my interested. And so that’s what I did around Brighton today. It was the perfect winter day for it too – crisp, cold but sunny and fresh. I liked my outfit today too which always puts my in a good mood.
I find days like these so beautiful. One of the only silver linings I can find about winter is how tree looks with no leaves. It’s as if the trees have been planted upside down and the roots are bare and rerooting themselves in to the sky. Or they kind of look like the inside of lungs, which is fitting I think, seeing as the trees are effectively breathing.
Brighton is so vibrant and perfect for days like this when I’m armed with my camera. You never know what you might see and everything is so photogenic, even the buildings. One thing I’ve noticed since really getting in to photography is I love shooting buildings. I like the sun hitting them or the shadows on them. Also you don’t have to wait for them to be ready for the photo to be taken. I tend to shy away from photographing people I’ve noticed. Not sure why that is. Maybe because I’m alone when I do these shoots so I don’t have anyone to photograph except the strangers in the street. I’m going to try and get better at photographing people. I took of photo of Beckie when we met briefly for lunch so I think that counts.
I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I enjoyed taking them. I recommend going for a long walk (this one ended up being a 4 hour walk, shopping breaks where allowed) and taking lots of photos of things that interest you, even if it’s only on your iPhone. It’s nice to change things up and see more around you than whats right in front of you.
